But Does It Match The Sofa?

In this new series I am exploring the juxtaposition of decoration and fine art, through the use of patterned fabrics and oil painting.  As an artist I want to be viewed seriously, and my art to be more than just a decoration on the wall.  Juxtaposed to this I am also a woman who finds great joy in decorating my own home. I want pretty pictures that bring joy and warmth and help make our home a home.  In this series I am stating that these two mentalities are not mutually exclusive, and can thrive in each other’s presence.  The fabric adds a warmth and informality to my paintings making them feel as if they belong in the home.  While the soft richness of the oil painting maintains its title as fine art.  These are lovely pieces made for the home not decorations that ebb and flow with the trends.  Original art works meant to be handed down from generation to generation.
