Yes, I do commission pieces!

What is the process?

Start by looking at my works and style of painting. Make sure that my painting style is what you are looking for. Then reach out to me with your idea to start the conversation, If you have an image you would like for me to reference you may include this in your initial inquiry. If your vision is one that my painting style is well suited for then we will nail down the terms and sign a contract.

What is the cost?

That is an excellent question. Original paintings are expensive, but perhaps not as out of reach as you might think. My pricing ranges from $4-$7 per square inch depending on the detail level and wants of the client. For example a 20”x20” single subject with a minimal background would be $4 per inch for a cost of $1600. This is not for everyone, but consider an 8”x8” for $256. A tasteful small painting can have a big impact. There is a nonrefundable deposit of $75 to cover the cost of the mockup sketch/proposal. This deposit will be applied to the total cost if the client decides to move forward with the painting proposal.

Do I paint portraits?

Yes! Portraits start at $5 per inch. Painting people is a delicate work, there does need to be an understanding that I am painting the subjects likeness, and am not a camera. See below for examples of commissioned works.

A few factors might play into why I would not be able to take on a commission they are listed below.

-If the request is to duplicate another artist work.

-If the request is not inline with my style.

-If the reference photo would not translate into a painting well. There are beautiful photographs that would not make good paintings.

-If the request would go against my morals and convictions.

Commissioning a painting is a wonderful way to bring personality and interest into a room or work space. One of a kind artworks create visual enjoyment and become conversation pieces for the viewers. Smaller commissions make lovely meaningful gifts. A gift that instantly says “I thought about you, and invested time and effort into seeing you smile”. I aim to paint heirlooms to be handed down through the generations, carrying memories as they go.
